There do appear to be some problems.

A problem that existed before the Musk takeover (Oct 27 2022) that according to the study below the pre-Musk Twitter executives were "doing almost nothing to address".

The Ars Technical hit piece should have been headlined: "Twitter making headway in addressing failure of previous management to curb child abuse content".

Exclusive: Brands blast Twitter for ads next to child pornography accounts

By Sheila Dang and Katie Paul

Sept 28 (Reuters) - Some major advertisers including Dyson, Mazda, Forbes and PBS Kids have suspended their marketing campaigns or removed their ads from parts of Twitter because their promotions appeared alongside tweets soliciting child pornography, the companies told Reuters.

DIRECTV and Thoughtworks also told Reuters late on Wednesday they have paused their advertising on Twitter.

Brands ranging from Walt Disney Co (DIS.N), NBCUniversal (CMCSA.O) and Coca-Cola Co (KO.N) to a children's hospital were among more than 30 advertisers that appeared on the profile pages of Twitter accounts peddling links to the exploitative material, according to a Reuters review of accounts identified in new research about child sex abuse online from cybersecurity group Ghost Data.

Conclusions
As mentioned earlier, Twitter is known to have very permissive policies regarding
pornographic content and indeed such content is easy to find on the platform.
However, our research shows something much more troublesome: in the initial 20
days of September 2022,
over 500 accounts shared, requested and/or publicly
exchanged child pornography material.

Our brief research details some basic features and activities carried out by these
criminals. These results validate the alarming problem already discovered by internal
employees and exposed by online media: Twitter cannot accurately detect child
sexual exploitation and its executives are doing almost nothing to address this
disaster.

We also uncovered evidence that such permissive policies on pornographic content
are also inducing users to post non-consensual and rape videos, not to mention
minors trying to sell their own nudity or sexual content.

It is obvious that Twitter is even more unable to moderate this illegal content when
accompanied by texts in languages other than English, particularly those pertinent
to Asian countries (especially in the Philippines and Thailand) and to Arab and South
American countries (Brazil in particular). In fact, we estimate that the illegal
activities we were able to identify in this study are just a small percentage of those
that publicly and daily are taking place on the global platform.

I suppose if the argument was "everything at twitter was great until Musk bought it" you'd have a point. But that's not the argument. The argument is "Twitter was platform with a lot of problems that struggled to make money before Musk bough it for the wildly over-inflated price of $44bn, and it'd be a miracle for him to break even, but he's on track for making things even worse than they were before."

On the topic above, Musk seems to be doing worse. In fact, in about every metric I can think of, Musk at best is "approaching parity", but in most cases is "clearly doing worse."

He's not doing better than the previous management.

If that was the headline then it wouldn't match the facts even in the first paragraphs of the article -

"Last week, Twitter Safety tweeted that the platform is now “moving faster than ever” to remove child sexual abuse materials (CSAM). It seems, however, that’s not entirely accurate. Child safety advocates told The New York Times that after Elon Musk took over, Twitter started taking twice as long to remove CSAM flagged by various organizations.

"The platform has since improved and is now removing CSAM almost as fast as it was before Musk’s takeover."

I think the headline would work for the Ars Technical piece but even more so if we incorporate the conclusion of the Ghost Data study.

He's pushing back against the woke mob with their demands to partake in their rituals, salute their flags, and worship their false idols, like Sarah Huckabee Sanders says.

At least the Twitter is making an effort to fact check some of the bull caca.  This is a good example where they get it right.

"NATO's post-Cold War expansion was due to countries joining voluntarily, not acts of aggression.  In contrast, Russia is attempting to expand its sphere of influence into Ukraine without consent of the Ukrainian government or people."

Stable genius.

Elon Musk fires a top Twitter engineer over his declining view count

------------------------------------------------------

For weeks now, Elon Musk has been preoccupied with worries about how many people are seeing his tweets. Last week, the Twitter CEO took his Twitter account private for a day to test whether that might boost the size of his audience. The move came after several prominent right-wing accounts that Musk interacts with complained that recent changes to Twitter had reduced their reach.

On Tuesday, Musk gathered a group of engineers and advisors into a room at Twitter’s headquarters looking for answers. Why are his engagement numbers tanking?

“This is ridiculous,” he said, according to multiple sources with direct knowledge of the meeting. “I have more than 100 million followers, and I’m only getting tens of thousands of impressions.”

One of the company’s two remaining principal engineers offered a possible explanation for Musk’s declining reach: just under a year after the Tesla CEO made his surprise offer to buy Twitter for $44 billion, public interest in his antics is waning.

Employees showed Musk internal data regarding engagement with his account, along with a Google Trends chart. Last April, they told him, Musk was at “peak” popularity in search rankings, indicated by a score of “100.” Today, he’s at a score of nine. Engineers had previously investigated whether Musk’s reach had somehow been artificially restricted, but found no evidence that the algorithm was biased against him.

Musk did not take the news well.

“You’re fired, you’re fired,” Musk told the engineer. (Platformer is withholding the engineer’s name in light of the harassment Musk has directed at former Twitter employees.)

It’s amazing that Musk is stricken with the same mental disease as trumpenstein.

More like panic is clouding any logic receptors.

Maybe Musk is just trying to change the makeup of Twitters top advertisers?

Extremist influencers are generating millions for Twitter, report says (WaPo)

Twitter exec says 'hundreds of thousands' of Russian disinformation accounts still active on Twitter

Twitter's former head of Trust and Safety told Congress that "counterfeit" Russian accounts targeting the US are still active as part of an "ongoing campaign.

"This is the first we’ve heard of an ongoing campaign involving such a large number of accounts, perhaps because identifying and countering foreign disinformation is not a priority under Elon Musk’s leadership — and that’s an understatement. Not only has Musk taken the unprecedented step of leaking internal Twitter communications to undermine the integrity of the work done by people like Roth, but he has also dismantled the teams tasked with spotting and stopping foreign influence. According to Roth, there were 'dozens of teams working on election security' prior to Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, but “those teams no longer exist under Mr. Musk.”

Some unhappiness with Elon.

Musk at the Super Bowl with Rupert Murdock? If you refuse to watch Fox then you should trade in your Tesla. It’s that simple.

Elon Musk fires a top Twitter engineer over his declining view count ...

Melon Husk fired engineer #1 after the engineer explained that Musk's tweet engagement went down because of reduced popularity.

Seems engineer #2 decided to go with malicious compliance to meet the boss' goal:

Twitter is just showing everyone all of Elon Musk’s tweets now

Is your Twitter feed suddenly all Elon Musk, too?

Why would anyone still keep a twitter account is beyond me. Not even if it helps to follow Pablo and expose his lies! I just deleted Facebook. I’m done with these jokers.
