Sac, Ditto about that silly mailbox move.  How dumb is that?
This is one thing that is easily remedied and could be brought back.  How stupid that you have to stop the car, park it and get out to mail your letter.

I really miss the pair of boxes that used to be in the Recalton lot.

(Recently noticed that there is a mailbox just off Valley across from the Stop and Shop and by the liquor store.  You have to park and get out, but the side street has low traffic volume and you can also run in to get a six pack or bottle of wine.  wink )

There was a time that every post office location I knew about (certainly not all, but a good sampling), had a drive by mailbox nearby with access from the driver side.  So, I thought it was a USPS requirement.  Silly me!  But, even if it isn't a requirement, it's just common sense.  I'm not sure why they couldn't still have the box(es) where they used to be or close, actually.

When I first noticed the box was missing, I inquired at the post office. They said someone had driven into the mailbox and it had to be removed. They thought it would be replaced. Well, that was a long time ago. Maybe we'd better ask about it again, maybe if a lot of us ask again ....

The problem is that it HAS been replaced, but also relocated in an impractical way.

It was already at the station spot where it is now when I spoke to them.

My Dad often took me to Korvettes in Queens. I had forgotten that name. And Kleins. Looking for LPs was so satisfying, flipping them towards you. Big wonderful designs on the covers.

Where one could see the Rocky Horror Show at midnight with audience participation! Ah, the good old days..... And for the record, I miss Don's too.

Just curious - was there any other way anywhere to see the Rocky Horror Show?  I can't even imagine it without the audience participation component. (Not to take anything away from the Lost Picture Show, which also had lots of other unique showings!)

Antonella's was the Italian restaurant on Sloan St, and Lombardi's was the deli on Irvington Ave- yes miss them both.

Ding ding ding! grin  Yes!  Lombardi's on Irvington Ave!  Thanks!

Gruning's peach ice cream in season was so delicious and  years ago they made strawberry ice, also very special and cooling. At Christmas dinner we had a wonderful large ice cream Santa from Grunings for dessert.
